Daniel McCarthy, a dedicated martial artist, was promoted to 4th degree black belt master in Chun ma Taekwondo (traditional Korean Taekwondo) in 2018. He was a student of Grandmaster Gyeong Jeon Ho (Fairlawn, Ohio) with additional study in American Kenpo and Chi na under Sifu James Adkins (Traverse City, Michigan).
He was awarded the coveted Letter of Appreciation twice by the Kukiwon in Seoul, South Korea (International Taekwondo Headquarters) for his contributions to Korean martial arts culture in The United States. Daniel was awarded four first-place medals in Poomse (form), and second-place medals for Technical and Power Breaking.
McCarthy has written several articles on martial arts, including "Martial Arts and the Student-Teacher Relationship," and "A Taekwondo Yankee in a Kenpo Court: The Importance of Cross-Training."
